A column that holds others to account has to be accountable itself. Here is how we handle mistakes and replies.
Corrections
If we get a fact wrong, we fix it and say so. The correction goes in a dated note at the top of the column, stating what was wrong and what is right. We do not silently edit published columns. Opinions are not corrected — but facts that an opinion relies on are, and if a correction changes the argument, we say that too.
Right of reply
Anyone named or clearly identifiable in a column may reply. Replies of reasonable length are published in full, unedited except for anything unlawful, and linked from the top of the original column. We aim to publish within three working days of receiving a reply.
How to contact us
Email [email protected] with the link to the column, what you believe is wrong, and — for factual corrections — the evidence. Please include “Correction” or “Right of reply” in the subject line so it is not missed.
